Sean P. Murphy

Sean P. Murphy is a Partner at The Lynch Law Group and serves as Partner-In-Charge of the Firm’s Naples, FL office, where he is a member of the Business & Corporate Law and Real Estate Law Practice Groups. Sean brings to the Firm a distinguished record of achievement spanning corporate law, commercial real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial litigation. He has represented early-stage ventures, established corporations, family offices, entrepreneurs, and non-profits across a wide range of industries, including construction, commercial real estate, healthcare, chemical manufacturing and distribution, seniors housing, workforce and affordable housing, life sciences, and medical devices.

Sean began his career in the Corporate and Real Estate Finance departments at Dewey Ballantine in New York City, and then served as a federal trial and appellate attorney at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., handling cases in federal courts across the country. He subsequently returned to private practice, serving as Of Counsel at Patton Boggs in Washington, D.C., as a Partner at Duane Morris—an AmLaw 100 firm—across its Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Miami offices, and as General Counsel for several high-growth businesses in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. In addition to his legal roles, Sean co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of an SEC-registered investment advisory firm. He currently also serves as Of Counsel to Ruberry Stalmack & Garvey.

Among his notable transactional achievements, Sean has advised on the acquisition and financing of 32 assisted living and memory care facilities across seven states valued at $240 million, represented a joint venture in deploying $235 million in commercial real estate acquisitions over two and a half years, and played a principal role in creating one of the first specialty healthcare Taxable REIT Subsidiaries comprised of 34 separate assets across the United States. He has also represented borrowers, developers, investors, and institutional clients in connection with Fannie Mae DUS loans, HUD-insured financings, hotel acquisitions, student housing projects, marina portfolios, and life sciences venture funds, among many other engagements.

Sean holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, a Master's degree in Real Estate Finance and Development with high honors from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia, Florida, Maryland, and New York. Sean holds a FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor credential and has been AV/Preeminent-rated by Martindale-Hubbell for the highest level of professional excellence and ethics. He has been named by Best Lawyers in America in the area of Closely-Held Businesses and Family Businesses Law.

Sean is actively involved in his community and has served on the Board of Advisors of The Shooshan Company in Arlington, VA, and the Board of Directors of the Carmelite Sisters’ and Teresian House Center for the Elderly in Albany, NY. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Collier County Community Land Trust, a non-profit that develops workforce and affordable housing, in Naples, FL. Sean supports or is a member of numerous charitable organizations, including Catholic Charities of Washington, D.C. and Collier County, the Order of Malta, Legatus International, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and has been recognized with the John Carroll Society Pro Bono Service Award from the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.
