Krista Kochosky is Chair of the Real Estate Practice Group. She concentrates her practice in civil litigation of professional liability for real estate brokers and agents; insurance bad faith litigation, insurance coverage litigation, trucking industry litigation, unfair trade practices and consumer protection law and fraud claims.
Krista has defended the interests of a vast number of major insurers, with particular focus on civil actions in state and federal courts alleging breach of contract and extra-contractual theories of liability, including statutory bad faith, unfair trade practices and fraud claims. She has successfully represented trucking companies and their insurance carriers in motor vehicle accident lawsuits, insurance coverage disputes, and freight claims, defending trucking clients in the federal and state courts of Pennsylvania.
Relative to her real estate practice, she has successfully defended the interests of real estate agents, brokers, and appraisers for over sixteen years in actions ranging from professional negligence to predatory lending in state and federal civil trials as well as administrative proceedings. Krista also offers internal training and risk management seminars to her clients to keep them apprised of evolving changes and developments in the law, including most recently “Update on USPAP”; “Pitfalls of Dual Agency”, and “Overview of Seller Disclosure Laws.”
She lectures frequently for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute with her most recent presentations including “The Role of Insurance and Indemnity in Business Litigation” and “Drafting & Modifying Residential Agreements of Sale.”
Krista is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, United States District Court for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, as well as the Supreme Court of West Virginia.
She is a member of the Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and is on the Insurance Bad Faith Committee.
She graduated magna cum laude from Kent State University in 1993 with a B.A. in English and Criminal Justice. She received her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1997, where she represented Duquesne in Trial Advocacy.
