Senate to Vote on Top FedEx Safety Official to Lead OSHA

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee on Dec. 13 approved President Trump’s pick, Scott A. Mugno, a long-time FedEx safety official, to serve as the next head of OSHA.

Mr. Mugno, who was most recently vice president for safety, sustainability and vehicle maintenance at FedEx Ground in Moon Township (Pittsburgh), was nominated to fill the vacant role of assistant secretary of labor for occupational health and safety. The position was last held by Dr. David Michaels, who exited in January.

Mugno, a graduate of the Washburn University School of Law, started his career at FedEx as an in-house counsel and has held his most recent position at FedEx for about 6 years. Previously, he spent more than a decade as managing director for FedEx Express corporate safety, health and firm protection in Memphis, Tennessee.

The full Senate is expected to vote on the nomination early this year.
