John Lacher is a partner at the Lynch Law Group. He has practiced law since 1991 with a focus on debtor/creditor rights, bankruptcy, and tax collection matters. He is also a certified mediator and is a member of the Western District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Mediation Panel.
In Bankruptcy Court, John has handled both commercial and consumer matters and has represented individuals and entities, serving as Debtor Counsel in numerous Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases. Among his bankruptcy clients, John has represented a regional airport, a brewery, an internet/cable TV/telephone service provider, coal companies, real estate developers, car dealerships, doctors, lawyers, and retired judges.
Outside of bankruptcy, John has assisted clients in restructuring bank loans, settling credit card obligations, defending foreclosures, and defending judgment executions. John has also handled tax collection matters for both individuals and entities involving IRS and PA Department of Revenue assessments, levies, and liens.
John served as a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Committee from 2016 through 2019. He was also on a committee that created the Subchapter V Chapter 11 Plan Form utilized in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. In addition to his bar association membership, John is a member of the Judith K. Fitzgerald Bankruptcy Inns of Court and the Pittsburgh Turnaround Management Association. John has made presentations at numerous continuing legal education seminars.
John was also recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2024. Best Lawyers is a designation given to 4% of attorneys in the country and is the oldest and most prestigious publication to recognize legal excellence.
John earned his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California and a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
